What will tenants be able to see on the landlord register?
Last checked 17 Oct 2026. The regulations were still in draft when we checked, so details can change.
Landlords often ask what the public will be able to see once the register is running. Here is what GOV.UK has said so far, and what it has not.
What GOV.UK says
The GOV.UK Housing Hub says tenants will be able to use the service to see whether a landlord is compliant. It says the information shown is meant to balance landlords' privacy concerns with tenants' need to make informed choices.
What has not been published
The Housing Hub does not list which details will be public. It says a list of the information the public will be able to access will be published at a later stage.
That means nobody can yet say whether, for example, an address, a certificate date or a licence number will be visible. Treat any website that lists the public fields as guessing.
What this means for you
- Being registered is the visible part. The one thing GOV.UK has said tenants will be able to check is whether you are compliant.
- Keep your details accurate. The register is only useful to tenants if it is up to date. See updating and renewing your entry.
- Do not rely on rumours about privacy. Wait for the published list before deciding what to worry about.
What to do now
Gather your details and register in your region's window. See what you need to register and the deadline for your region. We will update this guide when the public list is published.
