Nine regions, nine deadlines

Your deadline follows the property's location, not where you live. Anyone can register early once the service opens on 15 Dec 2026.

Dates as at 15 Oct 2026, matched across GOV.UK and the draft regulations. The regulations were still in draft, so dates can change. Check GOV.UK before you act.

The Landlord Registration Pack

The official service will ask for a long list of details for every property. The pack is a private planner that works out your dates, shows what is missing, and lays out every answer in the order the portal is expected to ask, so you fill it in once and copy it across.

Pre-launch version. Built from GOV.UK guidance and the draft rules, and updated when the service opens.

Questions

Do I have to register?

Landlords in England with assured or regulated tenancies are due to need a landlord entry and a dwelling entry for each property. Some, such as supported exempt accommodation, are exempt. Check the GOV.UK guidance for your own case.

Can my letting agent register for me?

Agent guidance is still to come. At the time of writing, GOV.UK says agents can upload some information, but the landlord remains responsible for providing all of it.

What does registration cost?

GOV.UK gives a fee of 65 pounds per property per year, pro rated during the rollout. Our pack is separate from that fee.

Is this a government service?

No. Dateledger is independent. You register on the official GOV.UK service, which is due to open on 15 December 2026.

Is this legal advice?

No. It is general information and planning tools to help you prepare. We are not a law firm. Dates can change, so check official sources before you act.
